One of the biggest challenges we encountered was the need to level the floors of a 100-year old house. We also removed several load bearing walls to create an open kitchen/dining space while enhancing the room’s natural light.
For this project the clients came up with most of the design elements to modernize the space while respecting the home’s 100-year heritage. The kitchen had to have great flow, work spaces, modern appliances and areas for socializing – while still feeling like it belonged in a country setting.
The discovery of an antique brick wall while doing some of the initial demolition work became the inspiration for most of the kitchen colouring and detailing.
